Systems with thermo-sensitive tubing are simple and effective systems of detection and extinguishing fires. The effectiveness of these systems derives from an innovative high-tech polymer tubing, which breaks when exposed to flames.

Polymer tubing is connected to the storage cylinder and allows the discharge of the extinguishant within the protected volume

Depending on mechanisms of detection and discharge, these systems are divided into two sub-categories:

  • DIRECT: the polymer tubing works either as detector and distribution line of the extinguishant. Flame exposure causes tubing rupture in the point which is nearest to flame. Gas is discharged through the tubing itself, which is connected to pressurized storage cylinder

  • INDIRECT: polymer tubing works only as a detector; when it breaks, a counter-pressure valve opens and the gas is released through a metal pipeline (copper, brass or stainless steel) which connects the cylinder to discharge nozzles
